I just ran into this book. I hope it isn't old news to everyone. The interesting part to me is that the rights in the charter were the background for a companion document called the "Charter of the Forest" which returned the forests, which had been claimed by the Norman aristocracy, to the Commons and established the local community rights of forest management and the rights of the people to subsistence from the common lands. The author then makes parallels to our current situation.
