Buy Shares

The Watershed Wealth Coop has two types of shares: investment shares and member shares.

Investment Shares

Community - $20.00 per share, non-redeemable - For individuals that either wish to help us build the Coop and achieve our environmental goals, or who would like to receive discounts on WWC online store purchases or other benefits as determined annually by the Board of Directors.  Makes a great gift.

Supporter - $1,000.00 per share, redeemable, may be jointly held - For non-profit groups, small businesses or smart individual investors who support the Coop's objectives and want to receive an annual cash dividend on their investments (as determined annually by the Board of Directors).

Patron - $10,000.00 per share, redeemable, may be jointly held - For larger investors who are interested in annual dividends (as determined annually by the Board of Directors).

Member Shares

Membership Shares can be purchased by organizations or individuals.  There are two member classes: Delivery Agents or Founders.  The cost per share is $1,000, but the number of shares required is different for Delivery Agents and Founders.  The Coop Rules outline the terms of share purchases, other requirements for membership, and dividends. If you are interested in being a Delivery Agent or Founder member, please contact us.

Share dividends

All dividends on all types of shares are paid out according to the Watershed Wealth Cooperative Rules which state that surplus funds (profits) will be spent:

1. first, to ensure contingency reserves are full;
2. next, to pay interest dividends due on investment shares;
3. next, to retire all or a portion of any liabilities previously incurred by the Association, as the directors determine is appropriate;
4. next, to pay member patronage returns or dividends as recommended by the directors; and
5. last, to a community foundation held in trust for the Coop for the purposes of grant making associated with the conceptual or operational purposes.
