Information for Product Makers
The Watershed Wealth Cooperative (WWC) works with any
product manufacturer that uses
sustainable botanical materials in their goods.
WWCs brokers high quality
fresh, and where possible local, raw materials for nutraceutical, medicinal,
ornamental and edible products and provides marketing and promotion for value added products
that use materials from
our WWC
habitat restoration sites. If you're a small scale processor, visit our "How it Works" page and read the
Small
Scale Producers Processor's Perspective for a more descriptive idea of how
WWC helps you.
There are currently two main categories of products dealt
with by WWC.
WWC Certified Products
Small scale value-added producers (making food, soap,
teas, nutraceuticals, or crafts with plant-sourced ingredients) can have the
Watershed Wealth Cooperative review and certify their product to carry the
Watershed Wealth logo. This allows the product maker to legitimately claim
their product helped restore the environment due to its production if they use
WWC materials, or at the least was environmentally neutral and supports the WWC
concept.
When your product is WWC Certified, our Coop works to
support you in the following ways:
- locates a source of local, certified raw product at a
stable price
- your product is sold through the Co-op online store and
offered to retailers through the Co-op wholesale distribution system (in
addition to your existing sales)
- your product is promoted through WWPs online social
networking and advertising, tradeshow appearances and other media campaigns
- you get access to an online resource center for free
accounting and other business software
- you get access to informational and educational
material including WWC certification courses
- you get access to a Co-op product consultant to help
develop your product line, plus branding and promotional material
- the Coop will help you identify or develop a WWC
Community Processing Facility to take advantage of more professional equipment
in your area
WWC Approved Products
Larger product manufacturers who have well branded
products with high sales that do not require Coop support can have their
products and processes reviewed and approved by the Coop as environmentally
neutral or beneficial.
